Taurus Events Hosts Run Plymouth 2026 Launch at Iconic Tinside Lido
Taurus Events has officially launched its Run Plymouth 2026 programme at a dedicated event held at the iconic Tinside Lido, bringing together partners, sponsors and supporters from across the city. The launch marked the beginning of another major year for one of Plymouth’s largest annual sporting events and a flagship celebration of health, wellbeing and community participation.
The event outlined the upcoming programme for 2026, including Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival on Sunday 17 May and the Acronyms Tamar 10k on Sunday 18 October. Guests also reflected on the significant success of the 2025 events, which delivered substantial economic, social and wellbeing benefits for the city. With over 10,000 participants and more than 40,000 spectators, Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival has become the biggest day of running in Devon, raising over £750,000 for charity in 2025 and positioning Plymouth as a leading destination for mass participation sport.
Attendees heard from Jeremiah’s Journey, the event’s official charity partner, alongside an inspirational talk from Alfie Fothergil, who took on the Plymouth Half Marathon challenge last year. Alfie shared his personal story of how running helped him through grief, highlighting the powerful role running and community events can play in supporting mental health, resilience and recovery.
Speaking about the launch, Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director at Taurus Events, said:
“We were proud to showcase the upcoming events for the year. At Taurus Events, we’re passionate about delivering events that champion Plymouth, promote health and wellbeing, and create a real economic impact for the city through local spending and fundraising. It truly takes a village to make these events possible and we are incredibly grateful to have so many supporters and advocates behind them. Alfie’s story is not uncommon, everyone has their own reason for running, from the heart-warming to the heart-breaking. It’s an honour to deliver a platform that enables people to achieve their goals.”
Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival will take place on Sunday 17 May, followed by the Acronyms Tamar 10k on Sunday 18 October.
