A. Code of Conduct

Running Industry Alliance (RIA) exists to galvanise, align and elevate the running industry.

As a professional membership alliance, we expect all members, alliance partners, speakers and event attendees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and respect.

1. Professional Behaviour

All members and participants of our events agree to:

  • Act with integrity and honesty
  • Engage respectfully with others
  • Contribute constructively to discussions and debate
  • Represent their organisation truthfully
  • Avoid behaviour that could damage the reputation of RIA or its members

2. Inclusivity & Respect

RIA is committed to a diverse and inclusive industry.

We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, intimidation or discrimination
  • Offensive language or behaviour
  • Exclusionary conduct at events or online forums

3. Event Conduct

At all RIA events (including The Running Conference and The RIA Spring Gathering):

  • Participants must behave professionally
  • Respect event staff and venue rules
  • Follow health and safety guidance
  • Comply with any filming and photography notices

4. Confidentiality

Where discussions are held under Chatham House Rule or marked confidential, participants must respect that confidentiality.

5. Breach of Conduct

RIA reserves the right to:

  • Remove individuals from events without refund
  • Suspend or terminate a membership
  • Refuse future participation

All decisions will be made fairly and proportionately.

B. Membership Terms

1. Membership Overview

Running Industry Alliance (RIA) Membership is an annual subscription designed to support collaboration, education and commercial opportunity across the running industry.

Membership includes:

  • Access to RIA events and networking opportunities
  • Member news amplification through RIA media channels
  • Webinar access 
  • Business introductions and connections (where mutually agreed)
  • Access to member-only benefits and services

2. Fees & Payment

  • Membership fees are payable annually in advance.
  • Fees are non-refundable once membership has commenced.
  • VAT is applied – where applicable.
  • Late payment may result in suspension of benefits.

3. Renewal

Membership renews annually unless cancelled in writing prior to renewal date.

4. Use of Running Industry Alliance (RIA) Brand

Members may reference their RIA membership but may not:

  • Misrepresent affiliation
  • Use RIA branding without written permission
  • Present themselves as speaking on behalf of RIA unless authorised

5. Conduct

Members agree to comply with the RIA Code of Conduct.

6. Termination

RIA reserves the right to suspend or terminate Membership in cases of:

  • Non-payment
  • Conduct breaches
  • Reputational risk to RIA

C. Events Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all RIA events including but not limited to:

  • The Running Conference
  • The RIA Spring Gathering
  • Retailer Day
  • Industry roundtables and forums
  • Webinars

1. Bookings & Payment

  • Tickets are confirmed upon receipt of payment.
  • Some tickets are included as part of membership.

2. Substitutions

Attendee substitutions may be permitted with written notice prior to the event – these terms may vary per event, do consult each event T&C’s. 

3. Cancellations

  • Cancellation policies will be outlined per event.
  • RIA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule events.
  • In the event of cancellation, liability is limited to the ticket price paid.

4. Photography & Filming

Events may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes.

By attending, participants consent to reasonable use of media content unless notified otherwise in writing.

5. Behaviour

RIA reserves the right to remove attendees whose behaviour is disruptive or inappropriate.

D. Complaints Policy

RIA is committed to professionalism and fairness.

If you wish to raise a complaint:

  1. Submit details in writing to Membership.
  2. Include full details and any relevant evidence.
  3. RIA will acknowledge receipt within 5 working days.
  4. A response will be issued within 30 days where possible.

Complaints will be handled confidentially and impartially.

Where necessary, RIA Advisory Board may be consulted.

E. Accessibility Statement

Running Industry Alliance is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users.

We aim to:

  • Improve usability for people with disabilities
  • Ensure website content is clear and readable
  • Review accessibility standards regularly
