Suunto Spark earphones offer air-conduction tech and run performance insights
Suunto, the Finnish sports watch and instrument brand, has expanded its open-ear audio portfolio with the launch of Suunto Spark. The new model is the brand’s first set of air-conduction, open-ear headphones, designed specifically for runners and active users who require situational awareness alongside immersive sound.
The open-ear design allows sound to reach the ear without blocking the ear canal, enabling users to remain alert to traffic and environmental cues. Beyond audio, the Spark includes integrated health and training features that monitor cadence, running mechanics, and neck posture.
The headphones are constructed from ‘skin-friendly silicone’ and a memory-titanium loop, with each earbud weighing 9g. Suunto notes that it used extensive ear-shape scans during the design process to ensure a secure, pressure-free fit for long-duration wear.
According to the company, the Spark features a hybrid multi-driver system to produce balanced mids and dynamic bass. For those seeking higher audio fidelity, the device supports Hi-Res Audio via LHDC 5.0 and includes head-tracking spatial audio for a 3D listening experience.
The Spark is designed for durability with an IP55 rating for dust and sweat resistance. Battery life provides up to seven hours of use on a single charge, extending to 36 hours when using the included charging case.
Integrated training support allows the headphones to provide real-time insights into a runner’s stride and mechanics. When connected to a Suunto watch, voice guidance can deliver updates on pace, heart rate, distance, and laps directly to the user. The device also tracks neck flexibility and fatigue, sending alerts to help users maintain better posture during daily activities.
The headphones utilise Bluetooth 5.4 for dual-device connection and include a ‘Find My Spark’ function via the Suunto app. Users can also interact with the device using head gestures and touch controls for hands-free operation.
The introduction of the Spark strengthens Suunto’s broader audio range, which includes the Wing 2 for endurance, the lightweight Sonic for everyday training, and the Aqua and Aqua Light models designed for swimming and multisport use.
Suunto Spark became available on April 8, 2026, in three colours: black, white, and coral orange. It is priced at £129 in the UK market.
