SCOTT signs Spanish trail running talent Nico Molina

SCOTT Sports has announced the signing of Spanish trail runner Nicolás (Nico) Molina to the Scott Running team. The company confirmed that Molina will represent the brand throughout the 2026 season, focusing on the Golden Trail World Series and the Skyrunner World Series.

Molina joins an international roster that includes Romanian athlete Madalina Florea among others. Hailing from Dúrcal in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Granada, Spain, Molina has established a pedigree in both skyrunning and technical trail disciplines.

In 2022, he secured the overall men’s title in the Skyrunner World Series following a victory at the SkyMasters finale in Gorbeia Suzien. More recently, he achieved an 8th-place finish at Zegama during the 2025 season.

Beyond competitive racing, Molina is known for personal mountain projects and Fastest Known Time (FKT) attempts. He recently completed a solidarity project in Morocco, setting a record on Jebel Toubkal after raising funds for local communities affected by a 2024 earthquake.

Nico Molina, Scott Running Athlete, said “I love to be in the mountains, running, with skis, doing alpinism… The mountain is the space for me to be happy, whether racing, training or just playing around. Scott shares this love for our playground in different sports so this feels like a natural partnership and one for which I am truly excited about.”

The partnership includes the hosting of the 2026 SCOTT athlete camp in Molina’s hometown of Dúrcal from April 6–12, 2026. The camp will bring together 14 athletes for training, product testing, and workshops.

The team will use Molina’s rural guesthouse as a base for the week before travelling to compete in the SWS Calamorro Skyrace.

According to the company, Molina’s addition underscores its dedication to supporting athletes who push the boundaries of the sport. His upcoming plans include a speed ascent and descent project on the Matterhorn in Zermatt.

Molina added “I am very excited to have all the team there, it’s an amazing opportunity, and I am grateful to have the team visiting my home during my first month as a SCOTT athlete.”
