Fusion Media to support Active Travel England Making Active Places 2026 conference

Fusion Media has been appointed by Active Travel England to support the delivery of the Making Active Places Conference 2026. The conference is scheduled to take place on September 22–23, 2026, in Manchester.

The annual conference serves as a national platform for sharing evidence, policy insight, and best practice in active travel. It brings together transport professionals, local authorities, planners, and delivery partners from across the UK to discuss innovations in creating safer and healthier environments.

Fusion Media, an agency specialising in active travel, sport, and transport, was selected following a competitive tender process. The agency was founded 18 years ago and works with various clients in the sport and active travel sector, such as the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling and Walking, The Bikeability Trust, and Modeshift.

The agency’s remit includes conference and operational management, venue liaison, programme coordination, and speaker support. Fusion will also manage sponsorship and exhibitor relationships, and delegate communications.

Active Travel England is the government executive agency responsible for making walking, wheeling, and cycling the preferred choice for everyday journeys. It works alongside local authorities to improve infrastructure and raise standards for connected communities.

Adam Tranter, CEO of Fusion Media, said “Active travel has a vital role to play in shaping healthier, safer and better connected places, and the Making Active Places Conference will be an essential opportunity for the sector to come together, share knowledge and build momentum.

“We are delighted to have secured this partnership with Active Travel England and to be bringing our event delivery, communications and commercial expertise to such an important national platform.”

Fusion will also lead the conference’s commercial development. By leveraging its networks across the international transport and sports sectors, the agency aims to secure ‘brand-safe commercial partners’ and manage exhibitor opportunities to drive awareness.

Chris Boardman, National Active Travel Commissioner, said “Our Making Active Places conference will bring together people united by a simple but vital mission: giving everyone the real choice to walk, wheel or cycle as part of everyday life.

“Active travel as a genuine everyday option isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s integral to building places that are healthier, safer and simply better to live in. I’m glad Fusion Media are on board to help us make this year’s conference a great success.”
