DEKA IGNITE corporate wellness initiative designed to improve workplace culture and employee wellbeing

DEKA, the functional fitness event brand created by Spartan, has announced the launch of DEKA IGNITE, a new corporate wellness initiative. The inaugural IGNITE event is scheduled to take place on July 24, 2026, at Manchester Central, UK, introducing a team-based format that is designed to improve workplace culture and employee wellbeing.

The initiative is positioned as a measurable and accessible fitness challenge, responding to a growing international demand for structured corporate wellness solutions. With more than 1,500 DEKA events already operating, this move is seen as a significant expansion for the event brand into the B2B sector.

DEKA IGNITE features a strategic format for teams of four, available in male, female, and co-ed categories. Participants must complete 10 DEKA Zones within a 90-minute time limit. These zones include functional movements such as weighted lunges, rowing, and a ‘Tank’ push and pull, with each station connected by 500m run intervals.

The race requires team strategy. While the first and last laps are run as a full team, internal rounds require two members to run while the others manage the workload in the zones. According to DEKA, the format is designed for all levels of ability, from first-time participants to elite athletes.

Emily leRoux, Vice-President DEKA, said “DEKA Ignite is about the power of collective effort and the strength found within a community which is at the heart of everything DEKA aims to achieve. We are delighted to be launching this challenge to the UK (and especially Manchester as a proud Mancunian), and by doing so strive to give organisations a platform to put employee health and wellness as a priority, and build more vibrant, connected corporate cultures.”

The launch comes at a time when businesses are increasingly looking to combat employee burnout and improve retention in remote-work environments. Data cited by the organisers suggests that workplace engagement is higher following team-based events.

US-based Spartan, the parent brand of DEKA, is known for its international portfolio of obstacle course races and endurance events. The Manchester debut is intended to create a synergy between functional strength and endurance running for the local sporting and business communities.
