SCOTT Kinabalu Ultra follows in footsteps of Kinabalu Trail shoe
SCOTT Sports’ running division has announced the launch of the Kinabalu Ultra, a new addition to its footwear range designed specifically for long-distance trail performance.
The release follows the recent debut of the Kinabalu Trail and represents a new design for the Switzerland-based business. According to the brand, the Kinabalu Ultra is engineered for experienced runners who require a balance of stability, comfort, and durability over unpredictable terrain.
The shoe features a 6mm heel-to-forefoot drop, with a stack height of 39mm in the heel and 33mm in the forefoot. The men’s version weighs approximately 270g (depending on size), while the women’s model weighs 240g.
A central feature of the Kinabalu Ultra is the Kinetic Nitrogen midsole. This uses a foaming process where nitrogen is infused under precise heat and pressure to create a lighter and more responsive cushioning system. The company states this process ensures consistent performance regardless of terrain or temperature.
The midsole is paired with ER3 – Evolved Rocker technology. This third-generation rocker design introduces medio-lateral guidance, which is intended to support the natural movement of the foot and reduce energy waste for runners taking on on longer-distance trails.
For the upper, SCOTT has utilised MATRYX technology. This material involves individually coating each yarn to increase durability and resistance while maintaining breathability. The upper is designed to keep the foot secure on technical sections while allowing for natural movement during extended runs.
The shoe is equipped with an Ultra Traction outsole, which has been optimised for multi-directional grip on fast-rolling trails.
The Kinabalu Ultra is part of the brand’s ‘Every Line Tells a Story’ campaign. This marketing initiative aims to connect the different models within the Kinabalu family, with the Ultra positioned as the choice for rugged terrain and endurance limits.
The new model was officially released at 16:00 CET on February 25, 2026.
