A.S.O UK’s Andrew Smith helps Event Buyers Live to StandOut

Andrew Smith, CEO of A.S.O. UK and Running Industry Alliance (RIA) board member, is once again lending his support to publisher StandOut Multimedia, organiser of Event Buyers Live (EBL), the annual hosted buyer event for the live events industry.

Smith is one of ten industry ambassadors at EBL, which facilitates valuable pre-arranged meetings between event organisers and event suppliers.

The ambassador role is one that Smith has undertaken for three years and one he enjoys – it enables him to network and collaborate with a diverse group of events professionals, share best practices in targeted content sessions, and support newcomers to the established event.

Furthermore, A.S.O UK – led by Smith – also hosts one of EBL’s famous NetWalks, which encourage attendees to meet new people whilst getting some fresh air and some steps in.

Smith said: “It’s a real honour to be asked by EBL to return as an ambassador. I’m passionate about all sectors of the event industry. I’m somewhat of an event nerd and the chance to support and encourage growth in the industry across all areas and drive positivity was easy for me to sign up to.”

Event Buyers Live takes place from November 10-12, 2025, at Carden Park, the luxury hotel and spa near Cheshire. The event welcomes only 100 live event organisers and 47 respected event suppliers for pre-arranged face-to-face procurement meetings. These meetings enable all parties to have honest conversations around project requirements for 2026 and beyond.

Smith continued: “The event’s location and atmosphere are brilliant and a testament to the whole team. I am personally looking forward to furthering the positive conversations I’ve had during my time as ambassador around diversity, equity, and inclusion and watching the event grow even more into a bigger and better champion of the sector. Plus, I can’t wait to lead another NetWalk and join other event professionals for some networking in the fresh air.”

Neil Fagg, director of StandOut and founder of EBL, said: “Andrew has been a huge help to the EBL team and is a massive asset. He’s a font of all knowledge, a brilliant soundboard, and happy to ‘buddy’ other professionals who may be overwhelmed by the thought of coming to EBL on their own.

“What’s amazing is how all our ambassadors are willing to hold out a hand and help someone who is coming to EBL for the first time. But that’s the great thing about live events – the people who work in the industry are awesome.

“Whether you are shutting down city streets for a marathon or taking over a private estate for a triathlon, anyone who runs an events knows the pressure that come with trying to curate an event that delivers on so many levels.

“With Andrew’s advice and guidance, we have upped our game and stepped out of our comfort zone because we listen to what the industry wants and needs,” Fagg added. “As a result – and as we get ready to host our eleventh event – we are certain that this year’s event will be our best yet. Especially with Andrew leading one of our famous NetWalks.”
