TCS SYDNEY MARATHON PRESENTED BY ASICS MAKES HISTORY AS SEVENTH ABBOTT WORLD MARATHON MAJOR WITH MARATHON TOURS & TRAVEL WELCOMING 11,000 INTERNATIONAL ATHLETES AND GUESTS

Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) is proud to have successfully supported the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS as it entered the history books as the seventh Abbott World Marathon Major. As the official travel partner for international participants, MTT ensured that thousands of runners and supporters enjoyed a seamless and memorable TCS Sydney Marathon experience.

Over race week, MTT looked after nearly 11,000 international athletes, friends and family, who spent an average of 4.5 days in Sydney and New South Wales. Collectively, this accounted for more than 25,000 room nights in the region, contributing many millions of additional Australian Dollars to the local economy.These figures were driven by several programmes: the management of the International Travel Program, which engaged 106 travel partners;  Destination Sport Charity, which brought international fundraisers in support of a range of causes; the Official Hotel Stays Program, which provided premium, centrally located accommodation at accessible rates; and Marathon Tours & Travel’s bespoke travel packages for new and returning clients.

To make the event as memorable as possible, the team at Marathon Tours & Travel went far beyond race day logistics in their offering. They hosted twelve private chartered cruise voyages for over 5,000 guests, offering the most incredible views of Sydney Harbour, and organised nearly 6,000 race-day breakfast boxes – no small feat – to ensure runners and supporters were fuelled and ready for the big day. Alongside this, MTT managed accommodation across the city, coordinated transfers, and curated sightseeing opportunities, giving international athletes, friends, and family a complete Sydney experience around the marathon itself.

The influx of international runners and their supporters added to the electric atmosphere across Sydney, boosting the buzz around the event and celebrating its elevation to Abbott World Marathon Major status.

The TCS Sydney Marathon also forms one half of Marathon Tours & Travel’s “Aussie Challenge”, a unique package that pairs the coastal beauty of the Kangaroo Island Marathon with the energy of Sydney’s city course. Taking place just one week apart, the challenge offers runners the chance to experience two contrasting but equally iconic Australian races within a single trip.
