British Orienteering: Sprint World Orienteering Championships 2024 come to Edinburgh this week

Edinburgh is hosting the World Sprint Championships between 12-16th July, welcoming athletes from around the World to tackle three events dotted around the City.

Friday will see the Individual Sprint Event, where competitors will face a qualifying heat in Leith in the morning before the finals which will take place in the historic centre of Edinburgh – welcoming the athletes to the finish at Prince Street Gardens!

On Sunday it is the turn of the Sprint Relay event –  a straight shoot out, four athletes, two male and two female aiming to post the fastest collective time on their courses. We’re thrilled to welcome Official WOC Supporter and Official Supplement provider to Team GB Revive Active to the finals at Heriot-Watt University, where they will be part of the official Fan Zone showcasing their support for the sport.

The Championships conclude on Tuesday with the action-packed Knock-Out Sprint – a series of races where the fastest go through until you reach the final. Short and sharp – expect races to be won in under 8 minutes there is no room for error! You can expect 1.6miles/2.5km courses to covered by the men in speeds of under 4:45min/mile pace and women 5:15min/mile pace. A truly astonishing speed when you factor in the added complexities of navigation and busy streets!

Revive Active have fuelled our athletes through 2024 and will do so throughout the events and continue to be valued supporters of our sport!

Our current World Sprint Champion, Megan Carter-Davies will be hoping for more success as she finds form coming into the event and Revive Active UK ambassadors, Charlotte Ward and Ralph Street are amongst the strong favourites for a medal too!

You can watch all of the action live around the streets of Edinburgh in person or via Eurovision sport thanks to a new exclusive broadcasting deal. Go to www.woc2024.org/spectators/ for the event timetable and all the spectator info.
