Update from Polygiene Ambassador Andres Olivera Scollo: Traveling Light in Southeast Asia
Over the last few months, I have been traveling and competing in Southeast Asia. My journey started in Thailand and continued in Sri Lanka, both of which are hot and humid at this time of the year (February – April). My day-to-day consists of balancing work, training, and trying to explore the local area. Not having my bike on this trip, my workouts usually take place on the trails, tracks, and roads, as well as some time in the gym.
A little over a year ago, I started using products treated with Polygiene® solutions – especially socks. All athletes know how much punishment socks take during a workout. Usually, I train twice a day and then there are general life activities to consider. I used to end up wearing two or three pairs of socks a day. Not ideal!
When traveling light with limited time for laundry, Polygiene-treated clothing is a great option. With Polygiene, you can wear the same clothes for longer without worrying about odor or bacteria buildup. This can be especially helpful when traveling in areas where access to washing facilities is limited.
In addition, Polygiene-treated clothing is a more environmentally friendly option because it reduces the amount of water and energy used in washing. It also helps minimize the amount of detergent and other cleaning products you need to bring with you while traveling.
Many of us don’t know it, but some of our sports garments contain antibacterial treatments which reduce bad odors and make it possible to wear the garment a second time without washing it. Generally, I put my workout clothes in the sun or a spot where the air helps to dry them and I reuse them in the next activity. I recently went on a small four-day trip and wanted to travel as lightly as possible. I was able to pack just two pairs of Polygiene-treated socks and wear them throughout the weekend, without any problems.
I believe these small actions can help us to adopt more conscious and sustainable practices and reduce our environmental impact. It is up to us to lead from the front and encourage those closest to us to play their role in affecting positive change.
Overall, if you’re looking for low-maintenance, odor-resistant clothing that enables you to travel light, Polygiene-treated clothing is an excellent choice.
