SPORTSSHOES.COM APPOINTS FIRST PARTNERSHIPS COORDINATOR TO SUPPORT RUNNING AND FITNESS PARTNER INITIATIVES

SportsShoes.com has appointed its first partnerships coordinator to manage its running and fitness community partnerships.

Georgia Malir joins the online running shoes, running clothing and outdoor retailer from athletic footwear and apparel brand Saucony where she was a technical representative.

In her new role, Georgia will be responsible for supporting SportsShoes.com’s partnership strategy with the day-to-day management of the retailer’s running and fitness partnerships.

This includes communicating with more than 1,000 individual running clubs, coordinating high profile event sponsorships and optimising media and wider group partnerships.

Alongside her professional role, Georgia is also an active runner and is currently placed 772 in the world rankings for the Women’s Marathon category. She achieved a 2:39:47 time at the Valencia Marathon in December last year.

Established in 1982, Bradford-headquartered SportsShoes.com offers more than 17,000 products from 150 global running and outdoor brands. From a running perspective, these include Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka and New Balance whilst in terms of outdoor they include Haglöfs, Mammut, Rab and Patagonia.

Commenting on her appointment, Georgia said: “I am excited to join the SportsShoes.com team and I am looking forward to working with our new and existing partners to help support everyone, at any stage of their running and fitness journey.

“As a keen runner, I experience the benefits of physical activity daily, therefore I am delighted to join SportsShoes.com on their mission to help customers lead happier and healthier lives through running and fitness.”

SportsShoes.com recently announced an exclusive retail partnership with community event network parkrun. Supporting more than nine million registered parkrunners across 23 countries, this marks the biggest retail partnership the company has secured to date.

Alongside parkrun, SportsShoes.com also has exclusive running events and community retail partnerships with England Athletics and RunThrough.

SportsShoes.com’s managing director, Brett Bannister, said: “Helping people lead healthier and happier lives lies beyond offering a best-in-class retail experience. It also means playing a meaningful role within the running community.

“Achieving this means ensuring our running and fitness partnerships deliver value and visibility. Georgia brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of our sector, and will play a crucial role in driving forward our partnerships strategy.”

On March 16, the retailer had its inaugural SportsShoes.com Podium Festival, a community running and brand exhibition event held in Leicester.

The event saw 1,000 runners of all levels compete for a £30,000 prize pot, the biggest seen in any domestic racing event. It also hosted an exclusive brand village which housed 10 of SportsShoes.com’s brand partners and is believed to be the first of its kind at any community racing event.
