SCOTT Athlete Mădălina Florea Podiums At The Grand Finale And Conquers the Golden Trail World Series
SCOTT athlete Mădălina Florea puts down a superb performance in Trentino to claim the overall crown of the Golden Trail World Series 2025.
Valle di Ledro – Trentino, Italy, October 2025. With a final race for the books in Ledro, in which she achieved second place, Mădălina Florea just became the Overall Champion of the Golden Trail World Series!
After a season to remember, the Romanian SCOTT Athlete arrived at the Grand Finale in the beautiful Valle di Ledro (Trentino, Italy) as the overall leader. With a field featuring the very best trail runners in the world, the stakes were high, and Mădălina needed one last strong performance to seal her place at the top and claim the world title.
Madalina was off to a perfect start, strengthening her position in the overall standings by winning the Prologue (6.9 km, 500m of elevation gain) that took place on Friday, October 10th. “I wanted to prove that I’m a complete runner capable of performing well on any type of terrain. I’m really happy with what I did“.
On Saturday, it was time for the Grand Finale. The race had everything to thrill trail running fans: an iconic sky course of 21 km with 1,600 m of elevation gain, tracing the scenic ridgelines of the Ledro peaks through a series of steep climbs and descents across Cima Parì, Cima Sclapa, and Cima d’Oro.
Madalina put down a strong performance. Under blue skies and perfect racing conditions, Mădălina Florea started strong, setting a fierce pace right from the gun. By the first climb, she had already opened a gap and continued to push hard, reaching the top of the course still in front, just one minute ahead of her closest rival Lauren Gregory.
But on the rolling, technical downhill section that followed, she took a tumble, allowing Lauren, known for her downhill skills, to move past. Despite the crash and lingering discomfort from what she later described as “maybe a bee sting,” Mădălina stayed composed, maintaining second place all the way to the finish line.
That effort was more than enough to secure the points she needed to be crowned the 2025 Golden Trail World Series Champion, a fitting reward for her remarkable consistency all season long.
This outstanding performance builds on an impressive first season as a SCOTT athlete, a strong sign of an exciting and promising future.
“I had a lot of pain giving me discomfort, maybe a bee stung me. It affected my performance a bit, but when you’re first overall, you can’t complain, you just have to enjoy the moment.” said Mădălina Florea, GTWS Overall Winner & SCOTT RC Athlete.
Aside from shining in the Golden Trail World Series, Mădălina also took the win at ETC in Chamonix by the end of August, dominating the race from start to finish, as well as in local road and trail races. These results underscore her remarkable consistency at the sharp end of the women’s field.
