Science in Sport (SiS) launches BETA Fuel Energy + Electrolyte Gel

Performance nutrition brand Science in Sport (SiS) has launched BETA Fuel Energy + Electrolyte Gel. Noting that the new gel was developed with insights from elite endurance athletes, SiS points out that the gel delivers both dual source carbohydrates and key electrolytes, tailored to meet the demands of long-duration training and racing.

Each gel provides 40g of carbohydrate using a 1:0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose, a combination shown to support faster energy uptake and more efficient usage when training for over 90 minutes. SiS adds that this blend has been linked to some of the highest recorded rates of carbohydrate oxidation during exercise, helping athletes sustain effort over extended periods.

Alongside carbohydrate, the gel includes 200mg of sodium to support hydration. Electrolytes like sodium play a vital role in maintaining fluid balance and replacing minerals lost through sweat, especially in warm, humid or high-output conditions. This combination of fuel and hydration makes the gel especially useful for:

  • Cyclists, runners and triathletes training or racing for over two hours
  • Athletes facing high sweat rates due to climate or intensity
  • Those who may struggle with stomach issues when using standard energy gels

This latest launch builds on the broader BETA Fuel range, which includes drinks and chews. Together, the range allows athletes to personalise fuelling plans and reach performance goals, such as hitting 90–120g of carbohydrate per hour, using whichever product formats suit them best.

Dan Lampard, Chief Operating Officer at SiS, said “We know the conditions endurance athletes face aren’t always predictable. The BETA Fuel Energy + Electrolyte Gel was created to give them a reliable, straightforward option that delivers energy and electrolytes together, helping them stay on track in both training and competition.”

Tested by Informed Sport, the new gel joins the expanding range of products available to the more than 330 elite sporting organisations that Science in Sport partners with. These include British Cycling, Tottenham Hotspur and the British & Irish Lions.

The BETA Fuel Energy + Electrolyte Gel is now available in Raspberry & Lemon flavour, in single servings or multipacks of 6 and 30.

To support performance in warmer conditions or sessions longer than two hours, SiS recommends taking 1–2 gels per hour. The gel can also be used alongside other BETA Fuel products to build a flexible, mix-and-match fueling approach that suits individual needs.
