Alzheimer’s Research UK: Pauline Quirke’s son treks for a cure
Charlie Quirke is bringing hope home this Christmas by embarking on a trek in honour of his beloved mum – TV icon and national treasure Pauline Quirke MBE – who is living with dementia.
Charlie will set off on Monday 8 December, walking for five days, across five counties and battling the winter elements. Physically, it will be tough. But for Charlie, the real challenge is an emotional one.
The 140km route will take him on a journey that retraces his mum’s steps from aspiring actress to sitcom superstar, and as a daughter, a wife and mother. His final destination will be the most emotional of them all, as he reaches his parents’ home where he’ll spend Christmas.
Charlie will bring hope home. Hope for a cure for dementia. Hope for us all.
Charlie is raising vital funds for dementia research
“I’m really excited to support Alzheimer’s Research UK in this way, because it’s what my mum would want me to do.
“She is such a selfless person, and I know she’ll be delighted that I’m doing this. I’m doing it for her, and for every family that has experienced the devastation of dementia, because we must do all we can to find a cure.”
Support Charlie and help bring hope home for everyone affected by dementia.
“What will keep me going is knowing that I’ll be reaching places that mean so much to Mum. There’s so much about her life that I don’t know, so I’m excited to learn more about her as I go. And then I’ll carry all mum’s memories with me as I reach home, for Christmas.”
