Torquay United head to the start line of the Torbay Half Marathon & 10k

Torquay United Football Club and the Torbay Half Marathon and 10k, are to join forces in a special partnership ahead of the iconic race on Sunday, September 21.

The Torbay Half Marathon and 10k event, organised by Taurus Events, follows a route along the picturesque seafronts of Paignton and Torquay, and is known as one of the top destination running events in the South West athletics calendar. Now there is a footballing twist.

Taking their place on the start line alongside over 3,000 participants of all abilities will be a Torquay United group for the Team Challenge, including manager Paul Wotton, proudly wearing race number 1899, with his assistant Mike Edwards. And Gulls supporters are being encouraged to join them.

“We are thrilled to confirm this community collaboration between Torquay United and the Torbay Half Marathon,” said Judd Barker, TUFC Head of Hospitality.

“Torquay United should be placed at the heart of the Torbay and South Devon community, and this kind of partnership demonstrates our commitment to the development of sport and wellbeing across the region.”

The Torbay Half Marathon and 10k, which start and finish on Paignton Green, is a community event with many thousands of pounds being raised for good causes by entrants.

Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director of Taurus, said, “We’re very happy be linking up with Torquay United, who such an integral part of the community, and we look forward to welcoming Paul Wotton, Mike Edwards and fellow Gulls to the start line in September.”
